Basics of Faith – Part 4
“Basics of Faith Part 4—Honor the Fathers” reminds us that believers don’t really have a faith problem; we have a word-abiding problem. Drawing from Galatians 5:22-23 and John 15:1-8, the message compares Christians to branches on a healthy vine: when we stay connected to Jesus through His Word, faith grows effortlessly, just as grapes appear naturally on a nourished vine. God’s Word is the divine pruner—correcting, instructing, and equipping us (2 Tim 3:16-17) so we can bear even more fruit. Jesus’ parable of the sower (Mark 4:13-20) then diagnoses four heart-conditions, unprepared, shallow, divided, and good ground, showing why God’s Word sometimes withers but, in receptive soil, yields thirty-, sixty-, or hundred-fold results. The takeaway: keep dwelling in Christ and letting His words dwell richly in you, and faith will flourish organically, bringing glory to the Father on this day set aside to honor earthly fathers and our heavenly Vinedresser.
